Take a few moments with your second cup of Monday morning beverage and dream of how a week or a lifetime would look/feel like here…
What do you like most about this slice of Italy? Would you have the patience to take on such a project?
As I ponder yet another house project here at Swallowtail Cottage, a visual pause permits contemplation and inspiration.
Happy February…I see signs of life in the gardens, and the wild birds continue to keep me company…77F here yesterday…much too warm. I also need to find out who is spying on me at night with their drone…I thought a plane was about to crash, then noticed the lights were hovering just above my privacy fence!

I have thought about purchasing a drone myself to take some great aerial shots of our property, but we are holding off because of price. However, I have much more respect for my neighbors than what has been shown you. If my neighbor had a drone and it harassed me on my property, they would get a friendly warning and a quote from the Declaration of Rights in the Idaho Constitution about the right to protect property. The next warning would be a shotgun blast near the drone. On the 3rd occasion, I would treat it as a shooting skeet.

I like your suggestions! I did send an email and the second time I had local police phone neighbor, who now knows this in police files. He will find another way to retaliate, as that is the small person he is.

How frightening to see a drone hovering around your property. It sounds like you’re doing all the right things. Keep us posted.

Thank you Annie. Will do. I hope that one bill passes both houses…

We had one flying over our front yard the other day. I expect it was a young neighbor with a new toy from Christmas. Hovering over your yard at night seems a little suspect.

Yes Karen, I am working on both a delegate and senator to vote and ban this type of activity…fingers crossed!

The warmest it’s been here so far is 56˚ (I think), but like you, way too warm for February. Our biggest snowfall last week was 6-7″. Spring may be coming way too early. The Italian house was lovely in the restoration, but a bit too modern inside for my taste. Many nice features, though.
Good luck with the drone – I suspect your next door neighbor!

At least the call from police to my neighbor put him on notice…

I like the clean & uncluttered look of the building inside & out. I also like the hilly terrain.
Diane, as a side note my grandson found& took care of the Joe S. problem with the email. Someone had the same internet address as I but with a different provider. This account was opened in 2011 & showed no activity. since 2012. My grandson closed out that address. His name only showed up when I sent an email to a person using that particular provider.
Regarding the drone, in the nearby city they use a drone to survey the city for property tax purposes. People build roof top decks & the city taxes those as a 3rd. story addition. I believe realtors are using drones also.
Good luck this spring Diane, Joe

Good riddance to Joe S…
City/county not using drones here nor are realtors flying at night…this is a nuisance person. AND I reside in a rural/agricultural zoned area of the county!
I have contacted both one senator and delegate and encouraged both to push legislation…allowing drones into individual hands without any regulations is foolish in every way. As soon as a drone brings down a landing commercial airline then, perhaps then, the FAA will do something.

What! Spying at night – presumably with thermal imaging? There has to be legal limits to these things, if folk can’t think themselves whether they’d like someone to do that to them!

I totally agree. I have written to my senator and delate asking them to push through legislation against drone use over private property. If walking on someone’s property is considered trespassing, then spying with drones should be too. Can you imagine that the FAA here allowes the use of drones by private individuals with NO regulations!!!
Now drones are nearly crashing into landing aircraft at airports!!! One strike could take a commercial plane down…Sometimes the US makes no sense at all. Onward!
